Battle of Spirit & Flesh

In this course, students will realize the fullness of the power of salvation. They will develop a balanced understanding of grace while considering the idea of dual natures in the believer as presented in the book of Romans. Students will understand that the ‘battle’ can rage in two ways: (1) between the Holy Spirit and the flesh of man, and (2) between the regenerated, born-again man and his flesh.

Goals & Objectives

Students will:

  • understand that Christians not only battle against the powers of darkness but also against their flesh
  • understand that believers can war against the Holy Spirit, grieving and quenching Him in the process
  • differentiate between the human spirit and the human flesh
  • gain a biblical understanding of the nature of man both before and after the salvation experience
  • understand according to the book of Romans that the work of the Cross has broken the curse of sin and death, and that believers can live a victorious life
  • learn how to live dead, live unoffended, and live unto God
  • be given biblical keys to walking in the Spirit
  • be empowered to break out of fleshly habits and to live a life controlled by, and in cooperation with the Holy Spirit
  • strategically, prayerfully, plan and deliver a message of victory over the flesh
